This tawny frogmouth family were perched in a tree above the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia. I found them as I wandered off the beaten track at Yarra Flats Park. Only when I got home and looked at the image on a larger screen did I realise that I was looking at three birds, two adults with a younger bird in the middle. In the field, I thought it was two birds, with one of them having spread its wings in a weird way. The bird on the right still looks somewhat weird to me, I must say.
I've been taking photos for many years, having bought my first SLR in 1990. Initially, my camera was something I used to record family holidays, but I'm now able to spend more time on photography for its own sake (and mine!). I love finding new places and things to photograph, whether near home or further afield.

Thanks Louise. You're right, I was lucky. I was really pleased that I spotted them. As to the young one, I'm just about to put up another shot to show that it has the pose.
