Corymbia ficofilia is a small tree also known as the red flowering gum and is an Australian native plant. This example obviously wasn't aware of the alternative name, as its flowers were very much more pink than red. OK, I'm being a bit unfair - the red flowering gum can actually have flowers in red, pink or orange, so this particular tree was well within its rights to produce pink flowers.

I've been taking photos for many years, having bought my first SLR in 1990. Initially, my camera was something I used to record family holidays, but I'm now able to spend more time on photography for its own sake (and mine!). I love finding new places and things to photograph, whether near home or further afield.
