I took this shot in Maranoa Gardens (in Melbourne, Australia) this morning. Only when I got home and saw the image on a big screen did I realise that I'd caught the pied currawong with a wasp in its beak - very clever of me, I'm sure! The pied currawong in a native Australian bird, related to butcherbirds and the Australian magpie.
I've been taking photos for many years, having bought my first SLR in 1990. Initially, my camera was something I used to record family holidays, but I'm now able to spend more time on photography for its own sake (and mine!). I love finding new places and things to photograph, whether near home or further afield.
